I practice primarily in trademark, copyright, domain name, licensing and anti-counterfeiting matters, with a particular expertise in the international area. I am a domain name arbitrator for WIPO and have been a consultant with the U.S. Government on implementation of the World Trade Organization TRIPs Agreement concerning trademark, patent and copyright issues. I’ve spoken on IP issues at law schools such as Yale, USC and NYU, as well as at IP conferences on six continents. I\'ve authored numerous articles and am an editor of a trademark assignment law treatise. I\'ve been quoted on IP issues in The New York Times & The Wall Street Journal. I’ve been selected as a New York Super Lawyer for 12 years & recognized as one of the Global \"Top 25\" Trademark Lawyers in The International Who\'s Who of Trademark Lawyers and in successive editions of the World\'s Leading Trade Mark Law Practitioners. I\'ve also been included in the 2018 edition of the Best Lawyers in America guide. I am the former chair of the ABA Copyright Division of the Intellectual Property Law Section, former chair of the ABA Trademark Division, former chair of multiple INTA committees including Geographical Indications, Amicus Brief, External Affairs, Issues and Policy and INTA Bulletin, and am a former member of the Executive Committee of the INTA Board of Directors. I also served as president of the U.S. Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property. I am active in disaster relief efforts, including working in Red Cross shelters for Hurricane Katrina victims and earthquake victims in Pisco, Peru. I am married with 3 children. Specialties: Trademark portfolio management, famous trademarks, domain names, geographical indications, international IP law and litigation, and licensing.Interests in space and space law.
