ABOUT CLARK N. BANACH
I am fascinated by the institutional forces that shape our behavior. Most recently I have been working on a project that investigates the long run effects of Chinese affiliated port projects and an extended Maritime Silk Road, composed of all ports that are owned, or operated by Chinese state affiliated firms, to determine whether variation in the type of agreement leads to variation in bilateral trade flows with China and the Rest of World. Additional areas of analysis include labor force diversity, public health, public finance, private debt and social expenditure. As I continue to acquire knowledge I strive to be a storyteller to transfer that knowledge. I am an advocate of both interdisciplinary and public scholarship. I feel we can create better economic systems if we work together for a clearer understanding of the world and the variation of its attributes. I believe it is possible to foster dynamic competition and a humane distribution of endowments, as well as work experiences that provide purpose, autonomy and mastery at every level of the supply chain.
