About Clark Harshbarger

Using holistic management, we can solve the real world challenges being faced in agriculture. Working with natural resources over the last two decades, in a multitude of diverse landscapes, cultures and ecosystems, has allowed me to realize this. As a manager and caretaker of a land based business over the last two years, I discovered how one’s intention can manifest into personal growth, allowing one to demonstrate compassion for all things under our management. Through my experiences I have learned that by listening to the land, with our hearts and minds open, we can discover the answer to the question “What does this place want to be?” And even more importantly, “Who do I need to become to serve this place?” My role with Mad Agriculture is to help practitioners think holistically along their journey to answer these question as it relates to their holistic context.

Experience

  1. Director of Stewardship

    Mad Agriculture

Oct 2018 — Present · Boulder, CO, US

While working with the USDA-NRCS as a soil scientist over the last two decades, I have been blessed to observe the many diverse landscapes, soils and ecosystems, in which we are apart of across this great nation. I have also had the opportunity to learn from ranchers and farmers first hand about the real world challenges they face to sustain a land based business. Through my experiences I have learned that by listening to the land, we can discover the answer to the question “What does this place want to be”? My role in MAD agriculture is to help producers think holistically along their journey to answer the reciprocal question,\"What does this land need me to be\"?
