I am an accomplished problem solver and leader with over fifteen years of experience in advancing knowledge, building and leading productive teams, fostering flourishing communities, and serving people to make our world better.I am an atmospheric scientist who specializes in advancing our understanding of and predictive modeling capabilities for high-impact weather. I help lead the development of world-class high-resolution models that help predict where hazardous weather will strike. I have also built data-processing workflows to help translate complex weather details into usable information for the public. My work has been supported by over $5.5 million from eighteen externally funded awards from agencies such as the National Science Foundation, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Energy, and Federal Aviation Administration. My accomplishments were recognized with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee\'s Faculty Research Award in 2021.I am also a leader with an extensive record of developing successful academic, federal, non-profit, and municipal programs and initiatives. I have led groups and organizations of five to nearly 500 people with budgets of hundreds of thousands to tens of millions of dollars. As a leader, I seek to foster my team members\' success through service and collaboration. I am detail oriented, well organized, and a strong and thoughtful communicator.    I am a Research Physical Scientist and the Chief of the Physics Branch in the Earth Prediction Advancement Division of the NOAA/OAR/Global Systems Laboratory. Major duties and accomplishments include:• Conduct hypothesis-driven research to evaluate the performance of GSL-led modeling systems, including the Model for Prediction Across Scales (MPAS) and our experimental AI-based model.• Lead projects to develop improved rapidly updating, high-resolution numerical weather prediction capabilities for hurricanes, severe weather, winter weather, atmospheric rivers, and aviation applications.• Facilitate partnerships in the lab, with other NOAA labs and centers (NSSL, PSL, EMC), and with non-NOAA entities (NSF NCAR, Air Force 16WS, NVIDIA, CW3E) to advance community numerical weather prediction capabilities.• Provide scientific leadership as a member of the lab\'s Science and Technology Council and division’s managerial leadership through setting strategic priorities (including developing a Physics Branch strategic plan), preparing and evaluating budgets and project plans, and supervising federal and Cooperative Institute employee activities.
