ABOUT CLARISSA EIBL

I received my Ph.D. in the field of structural biology from the University of Salzburg, Austria, in 2012. Within the doctoral program \"Immunity in Cancer and Allergy,\" I wrote my thesis on a class of innate immune receptors termed NLRs. For my first Postdoc, I joined Prof. Peti\'s group at Brown University to learn more about protein phosphatase structures and NMR spectroscopy. In Prof. Plested\'s group, renowned for his work on ionotropic glutamate receptors at the Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie and Humboldt University Berlin, I used a combination of structural biology and functional experiments to unravel the molecular mechanism underlying receptor gating. This work was part of the ERC funded GluActive grant and supported by a Schrödinger Postdoctoral Fellowship (FWF, Austria) and the Wiedereinstiegsstelle (FMP, Berlin). The extensive experience on the structure function analysis of neuroreceptors lays the basis for my new endeavor. I recently joined Prof. Obermair\'s group to investigate alpha2delta subunits from voltage gated calcium channels.
