ABOUT CLARE B.

As a Senior Specialist Occupational Health Nurse with over 10 years of experience in this specialty, my expertise lies in supporting and empowering employees to flourish at work from an occupational health perspective, promoting their health and wellbeing and providing comprehensive advice to managers. I am a holder of the Occupational Health SCPHN nurse qualification, with distinction and registered on part 3 of the NMC register. I am passionate about my work, promote evidenced based practice and am a member of the Society of Occupational Medicine and British Menopause Society. My current special areas of interest are supporting pre-reg student placements in OH, case management, governance and staff development. I have a proven ability to work effectively with employees, management, and other stakeholders and have worked alongside a project manager to develop initiatives that reflect a commitment to the growing OHWB strategy. I have significant experience in governance, for example, developing and updating Written Instructions for immunisations and standard operating policies for health surveillance programs. I provide education and training on a variety of topics to staff and employees, suggest realistic return-to-work programs and advise on the accommodation of employees with disabilities. I am currently a tutor on the Introductory Course in Occupational Medicine which is part of the pathway to the Diploma in Occupational Medicine/Occupational Health Practice, and have led on setting up our first pre-reg student nurse rotation to occupational health. I co-authored an editorial about this experience which was published in the Journal of Occupational Medicine. I also delivered a short oral presentation on this at the annual SOM conference in 2023. I am always open to connecting with like-minded professionals and discussing potential opportunities to collaborate and make a difference in the field of occupational health.
