ABOUT CLARE WARD
As well as being an employment lawyer, I am a leading collective labor relations lawyer working nationally with clients across the country. I qualified back in 2003 with a trade union firm, the four years there gave me valuable insight before joining Eversheds Sutherland in 2007. I help employers with all aspects of their union relationships, providing not only legal but also business critical strategic support. From supporting employers through the recognition process; drafting recognition and collective agreements as part of helping clients review and re-define their Union relationships; improving employee engagement; to pay negotiation strategy (including requests for information). I provides critical support if relationships breakdown and employers are faced with industrial action or other disruption. I guide employers through significant change projects (collective redundancies, restructuring, TUPE etc) where navigating and maintaining the labor relations environment can be crucial. I am responsible for the global employment training business. I firmly believe in, and am a champion of, Eversheds Sutherland’s inclusive values. I lead the Nottingham office D&I Spectrum group which draws together the firm’s people networks on a local level and strives to make the Nottingham office a place where we foster a diverse and inclusive culture. I play an active role in the global gender network, leading the way as a career topic champion.
