ABOUT CLARE GRAY
I am a highly motivated, proactive and conscientious Disability Specialist, formally recognised on the Global Diversity List by the Economist. I have over 30 years’ experience working in the specialist field of disability, equality and inclusion. I consider myself to be well networked with first-hand experience of societal barriers as a disabled person. My career began working within personalisation and social care and transitioned into service delivery and management. I now work strategically to develop successful collaborations with other organisations and employers, informing Shaw Trust policy and advocating for others to advance equality and future provisions for disabled people.I am a member of various forums and All-Party Parliamentary Groups for Disability, Women and Work, Adult Social Care and Inclusive Entrepreneurship. This has given me opportunity to contribute to national consultations and annual reports. I take an active role to lead on and contribute to disability research and developments, convening and partnering with partners across the sector as appropriate focused on unmet need. In more recent years I have taken a leading role at Shaw Trust in developing the Disability Power 100, profiling the most influential disabled people in the UK.Outside of my work at Shaw Trust, I am a trustee for SMA UK, and an adult representative for SMA Europe and for the Newborn Screening Alliance. I have also recently been appointed as a patient representative for the Expert Advisory Group working towards the development of a benchmarking study to measure how care is currently provided for adults living with SMA across 23 countries European countries.
