ABOUT CLAIRE SPECTOR

I am a graduate student pursuing a Master of Science in Climate Science and Engineering at Northeastern University (expected graduation August 2026), with a focus on marine and coastal processes as they relate to climate change. Through my coursework, I have built applied skills in hydrodynamic modeling and coastal resilience planning. I am currently working on a project using the MIKE 21 Spectral Waves model to assess the efficacy of oyster reefs in wave attenuation in the Gulf of Mexico. I am also contributing to ongoing research using Python-based modeling tools to predict nutrient and biogeochemical concentrations across coastal and offshore environments in the South Atlantic. Prior to graduate school, I spent three years working as a Senior Research Analyst at an environmental economics consulting firm, where I performed quantitative benefit-cost analysis to estimate the impacts of proposed environmental regulations. I am seeking positions related to climate adaptation and coastal resilience using both nature-based solutions and engineering technologies, as well as applied research roles at the intersection of ocean and climate science. Other areas of personal interest include earth systems modeling, polar-climate interactions, and marine carbon dioxide removal.
