ABOUT CLAIRE BROWN
I am an RICS Chartered Building Surveyor working in the South of England and London, advising public and private sector clients on residential management matters, construction projects, building defects, planned maintenance programmes and technical due diligence across the UK and Europe. I entered the property sector from a background in engineering in the British Army, where I led teams of engineers maintaining and repairing army equipment in support of operations. I deployed on numerous overseas operations in my 18 years of service, including two tours as a linguist (Persian) and mentor in Afghanistan. I am a confident and skilled communicator with an ability to convey technical matters in an understandable style.I have a strong personal interest in conservation of historic buildings and have worked on a number of projects and surveys on listed buildings, I have an MSc in Building Conservation and am accredited by the RICS as a historic building professional. I have continued my military service as a Major in the Army Reserves, and this interest has also led me to join the Defence Cultural Property Protection Unit as an Army Reservist. I care passionately about creating opportunities for careers in real estate for people from all backgrounds to improve the diversity of our industry\'s workforce, and I support graduate and apprentice training and as an APC supervisor and assessor.
