ABOUT CLAIRE MILLER
I am an Associate Architect currently working on cultural, charity, education and workspace projects. I enjoy forging and nurturing strong working relationships with clients, consultant teams and contractors to design beautiful, inclusive places that bring social, environmental, and economic value through design.My passion is working in collaboration to draw out unique and appropriate solutions to complex architectural challenges. Always aiming to empower those I work with, I lead on Askew Cavanna’s consultation, co-design, and community engagement processes.I advocate for gender and racial equality, education and social mobility in the bult environment, which has resulted in me lecturing at various schools and universities in the UK, as well as providing mentoring for young people via the RIBA, Social Mobility Foundation, Built By Us, and Babassa.I have a multi-disciplinary background, with degrees in both 3D design: furniture & interior, and architecture. A continued interest in adaptive re-use and extensive experience of working with existing buildings has led me to qualify with a diploma in retrofit coordination and risk management. I bring these skills to my roles as a design review panel member for Design West and a Trustee / NED for the Centre for Sustainable Energy.
