ABOUT CLAIRE BROWN
Claire is a therapeutically trained Social Worker who specialises in supporting carers to provide loving homes for children who have experienced abuse, trauma and attachment instability in their early lives. She has been working in adoption, fostering and special guardianship since qualifying in 2011. Claire is an approved PACE trainer and loves to create and deliver in person and online training courses and resources to enhance wellbeing for young people and carers. She has experience lecturing on BA and MA programmes, in course leadership for a social work post qualifying course, as an external examiner and serves on the ethics subcommittee and on a journal editorial board. Claire Chairs the TU Social Work Research Network, Co-chairs the DDPi Research Committee, along the TU Gender Focus Group and AOCPP care experienced people SIG. She co-facilitates the North East DDP SIG and collaborated with SIG leaders to convene DDP study days. Claire also supervises PhD students in a range of cross-disciplinary topics. Claire is passionate about social justice, promoting inclusion and supporting emotional well-being. She has a particular interest in research and practice supporting LGBTQ+ carers and care experienced people. Pronouns: she/her.
