ABOUT CLAIRE HALLAS CPSYCHOL
As an experienced Consultant Health Psychologist with a 25+ year career in the NHS, public health system, pharma business and academia, I practice as a science-practitioner combining evidence-based health psychology research with high quality psychotherapeutic clinical interventions. I have managed and deliverered NHS and private staff and patient Psychology services including specialist services in cardiac and respiratory surgery and rehab, oncology, diabetes, rheumatology and solid organ transplantation. My expertise focuses on improving service user outcomes; adherence to medicines, surgery outcomes and treatment regimes, enhancing emotional adjustment to lifestyle change and a focus on preventative behaviours and maximising individual quality of life through personal values, goals and self-compassion. More recently, I lead the UHN Staff Health and Well-being services including; Occupational Health, TRiM incident support service, the Preventive Health Service and the Staff psychological wellbeing service. I supervise Psychologists, other clinical professionals and support the organisation and its executive leaders to apply a psychological/trauma informed approach to the organisation’s change programme, improving its overall emotional health and building a People First culture. My teaching, research and supervisory skills have been acquired through working for and in collaboration with senior academic medical and psychology training programmes and university teaching hospitals and ensures my knowledge of training models, competences/standards of practice and my supervisory skills are current and responsive to evolving professional practices.My professional experience has enabled me to hold various senior roles within the British Psychological Society advising the U.K. Department of Health on standards of health psychology training and workforce planning issues, such as the delivery of the IAPT national program and developing NSF frameworks and DoH/ NICE consultation guidance and recently on the HEE Special Advisory panel for Psychology in Physical Healthcare.
