ABOUT CLAIRE ALLEN-PLATT
I\'m a research methodologist in K-12 education, and my work bridges measurement and policy. I primarily partner with schools, districts, states, and federal program officials to design studies and develop instruments and measures that address their questions about assessment, instructional materials, professional learning, special education, and more. Prior to joining the Annenberg Institute at Brown University, I served as a Project Officer at the Institute of Education Sciences at the US Department of Education, where I designed and managed large-scale evaluation studies of education programs, policies, and funds. I hold a PhD in Quantitative Methods from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, where my dissertation investigated the psychometric properties of state standardized achievement tests and implications for policies based on test scores. I have been lucky to work in and with numerous schools, districts, and education organizations for almost two decades and began my career in public schooling as an AmeriCorps VISTA.
