ABOUT CLAIRE MILNER
A results-oriented Practice Director with 15+ years of experience in programme and project management across diverse sectors including construction, rail, property, transportation, and education. Expertise in leading and developing high-performing teams to deliver strategic business growth with excellence in building client and internal relationships. After graduating with a 1st Class Masters in Physics I joined MBDA as a systems engineer. Working in a truly innovative, and challenging environment I grew my passion for questioning the status quo and looking to create optimisation and standardisation. I joined Network Rail for 2 years as a Project Manager (including a change role) delivering complex third party projects whilst coordinating stakeholders within the political challenges that comes in the industry. Since joining Arcadis in 2015 my career has grown in strength. Taking responsibility for the creation of an efficient project delivery team, the challenge to grow client bases, provide stakeholder excellence and ultimately increase revenue has been exciting and rewarding. Always looking for the innovative solutions I was the first project manager in Arcadis to use GIS software in 2016 and the first to use a drone for surveying, both are now fundamental in the industry practice. In 2018 I was nominated for \"Woman Project Manager of the year\" and was successful in being shortlisted mainly down to my drove to challenge and do things differently. I\'ve set up and structured a Project Management Office both in the UK and oversees to create the most efficient delivery approach combining efficiencies with service excellence. Taking on a role in 2022 as the Head of Capital Projects for the University of Bristol I led a diverse team leading complex and wide ranging technical projects focusing on Carbon Net Zero strategies to meet the Universities 2030 ambitious target. Moving back to consultancy I took on a role as Regional Director in AtkinsRealis working in the property team overseeing complex projects and delivering innovative internal initiatives including a nationwide account management tool and optimising the use of our Global Technology Centre. Late in 2024 I was privileged to take on the role of Practice Director for Complex Infrastructure Programme Advisory team. Whilst a relatively new team in AR, we benefit from a wealth of experience and overwhelming passion to support the transformation and improvement of our clients.
