ABOUT CLAIRE MCVEIGH
Hello! I\'m Claire McVeigh, a current student of International Security & Conflict Resolution (ISCOR) and Comparative International Studies (CINTS) at San Diego State University. I’m passionate about understanding how global systems, security institutions, and international actors shape conflict and cooperation. My academic work centers on transatlantic relations, emerging security and global justice threats, and the evolving nature of threats in the present day.I am currently competing in the Schuman Challenge, where I work with a team to research and develop policy proposals to strengthen EU-US security cooperation. This experience has deepened my interest in multilateral diplomacy, strategic policy design, and transnational security challenges. My ISCOR study’s focus is justice in global systems, exploring how institutions and international norms influence equity, accountability, and human rights and security. Within CINTS, I specialize in Europe and Africa. This allows me to explore regional political dynamics, culture, cross-continental security issues, and the ways these regions interact, especially within the broader global context. I am also pursuing minors in Spanish and Religious Studies, which complement and broaden my understanding of cultures, belief systems, international relations, and complex problem solving.
