ABOUT CLAIRE LUND
Claire Lund is the Chief Sustainability Officer at National Grid. Previously Claire was the Vice President of Environmental Sustainability operating across GSK’ worldwide operations, medicines, vaccines, R&D and supply chains. Claire has over 25 years’ experience in leading transformational strategic change programmes across £billion+ global categories (energy, facilities, capital, renewables and NGO partnerships). Previously Claire led the UK Government Energy procurement programmes. In this capacity, she was responsible for designing and implementing a strategic multi-billion change programme across National and Local Government operations. Delivering a new collaborative approach, optimisation of public funds for energy purchasing and renewable energy strategies across thousands of sites. The success of the programme was recognised by HM The Queen as the Procurement and ‘winner of winners’ award for execution of the pan-government energy project. Prior to the UK Government, Claire held several senior roles in the energy and environmental consulting sector and start-up enterprises, working with blue chip private and public companies across the UK, EU, Australia and U.S. Claire is the recipient of the Reuters ‘Trailblazing Women in Climate for 2024’ and Sustainability Leadership Magazine named Claire to their top 100 CSO’s in 2023 and 2026 and the ‘Gold winner’ in the Top 100 CSO’s in Europe by Futur/ io in 2025. Claire received a 1st Masters degree in Energy and Environmental Technology & Economics from the City University in London. She also holds a BSc in Geography from Exeter University
