About Claire Hargrove

I am passionate about creating sustainable, resilient, and accessible communities. In particular, I have grown fond of mobility and community planning and the influence of climate change in these plans. I hope to pursue a career that encompasses active mobility, climate adaptation & resiliency, GIS, and overarching sustainable development. My goal is to promote sustainability for both the natural & built environments. I graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May 2025, with a B.A. in Environmental Studies - Sustainability and minors in Urban Studies & Planning and Geographic Information Systems. In the Fall of 2023, I founded Build U.P, the first undergraduate urban planning club at UNC Chapel Hill, and served as the president for 3 semesters. My goal prior to creation, and post was to foster a safe, inclusive, and inspiring community for aspiring undergrad urban planners. During this time, we initiated the The Better Block Initative - a tactical urbanism project, and formed a network of students & professionals in urban planning through career advancement opportunities. I also served as several Professional Development chair positions of UNC’s Environmental Honors Society: Epsilon Eta, as well as being a member.

   I support stormwater data development using ArcGIS Pro, including identifying and delineating impervious surfaces from aerial imagery and ensuring accurate, high-quality spatial datasets. I work closely with GIS professionals to perform spatial analysis, assist with QA/QC, and contribute to project goals in a collaborative consulting environment.
