ABOUT CINTHIA MOTLEY

My practice involves complex matters and litigation with a focus on data privacy & security and international liability, risks and disputes, as well as employment and professional liability.Data Privacy and Security - I represent clients with their cybergovernance and risk management needs, as well as incident response and data breach litigation. I service clients, both domestically and internationally (with a special focus on emerging cyber liability risks in the EU and Latin America) in a wide range of industries including: financial services; health care; education; retail; hospitality; transportation; and companies insured by leading insurance firms. I also manage a full service cyber security program from pre-event to post-event. Pre-event, I assist clients with incident preparedness and mitigating cyber exposures, training from the boardroom to the mailroom, as well as policy and plan drafting, and third party risk management, including vendor agreements. Post-event, I assist clients as incident response and coordinating counsel both in the U.S. and abroad.I also chair the privacy and data security project team for the Seventh Circuit E-Discovery Pilot Program Committee. In this role I work with attorneys from all sectors of the bar and judges at federal and state levels, in addressing their respective needs in the area of data privacy and security and its impact in litigation.Employment and Professional Liability - I represent employers, ERISA and non-ERISA plans, claim administrators and managed-care organizations as defense counsel against life, health, disability and employment claims. I also represent professionals, including lawyers, directors and officers, employee benefit plan administrators and fiduciaries concerning professional liability claims, as well as handle ERISA, employee benefits and health care issues.
