Prevent Suicide Fox Cities is a 501C3 nonprofit organization. We exist to reduce suicide and its toll on survivors. We have been in existence since 2009 when it was founded. I joined the organization in 2013 and reorganized the organization in 2016. We work in four areas education to promote mental health and break down the walls of stigma, we are the coordinating organization for QPR -which stands for Question, Persuade and Refer. QPR is a free 90 minute course that teaches warning signs, risk factors and how to ask a person at risk if they have plans to kill themselves. We offer hope and persuade them to get help and refer them to help and stay with them until help arrives. It is a proven methodology for saving a life from suicide. I am a certified QPR instructor and the coordinator for Outagamie and Calumet counties. We provide both individual support by appointment and two support groups. One in Green Bay that meets at the Ashwaubenon Public Library on the second Thursday of the month from 6-8pm and in Appleton at 211 E Franklin Street on the third Thursday of the month from 6-8pm. We also offer a plethora of resources, information and a library of books open to the public for check out.
