I am a brand lawyer. I assist brands & agencies with the legal aspects of branding and marketing. I help clients launching a new product with the advisability of the new name in the chosen markets. I also craft brand protection programs, advise on domestic and international trademark registrations, monitoring and enforcement.I’m also a marketing law lawyer. I review advertisements and promotions and advise advertisers and agencies on how to mitigate legal risks while achieving results. I advise on contests and promotions, draft contest rules, review publicity material and deal with the Quebec Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for contest related issues. Notably, I have expertise in automobile advertising and Quebec’s prohibition against commercial advertising to children under 13. I also regularly assist brands in navigating the requirements of the Quebec Charter of the French language as well as the stringent Quebec Consumer Protection Act, particularly when it comes to online sales. I also draft and review various commercial contracts and more particularly licencing agreements, terms of use and other consumer-facing agreements as well as sponsorship and influencer agreements.
