I lead the teams responsible for structured query infrastructure within Google, powering many key product areas including Ads, Payments, Analytics, and more. The F1 Query system was built from the ground up and optimized for Google\'s datacenter infrastructure, providing high performance and scalable SQL query over many of Google\'s internal data sources. The organizaiton is also responsible for other query infrastructure including the common SQL dialect used across Google, which has been opensourced as ZetaSQL (https://github.com/google/zetasql).Having been both a senior individual contributor on the team and then leader of this organization, I have enjoyed the unqiue experience of scaling both the technology and team over the past 10+ years.Building true, huge-data infrastructure is outright fun and I am passionate about sharing that excitement and helping those around me grow and innovate as a team to solve interesting problems in distributed systems and distributed query processing.
