I lead a team to test and deliver approaches to diagnosing cancer at an earlier stage across the NHS in England.My work includes:• Rolling out a national lung screening programme (Targeted Lung Health Checks) which has (to end December 2022) diagnosed more than 1500 cancers, 76% of which were at stage 1 or 2• Dramatically increasing uptake of FIT testing in primary care to effectively manage NHS colonoscopy capacity and spare patients needless colonoscopies• Testing new medical technology by establishing 60 pilot sites to deliver colon capsule endoscopies • Implementing a community focused liver health check programme, targeting those most at risk of liver cancer via outreach to homeless shelters, drug & alcohol clinics, sexual health services and bariatric services• Pioneering a programme to test tens of thousands of Jewish people in England for BRCA mutations in order to prevent or detect breast, ovarian and prostate cancers earlier• Increasing testing for Lynch Syndrome among patients with colorectal and endometrial cancer to prevent or detect bowel and endometrial cancers earlier
