ABOUT CIRO MANZO
As the Copernicus Contributing Missions Coordinator at the European Space Agency (ESA), my role focuses on coordinating activities within the Copernicus Space Component, particularly in integrating commercial Earth Observation data into the Copernicus programme. This involves ensuring seamless operational access to a variety of EO missions to complement the Copernicus Sentinel missions data. With a strong background in Earth Observation, geomatics, and project management, I bring years of experience as a Service Manager, Copernicus Account Manager, researcher, and consultant. Throughout my career, I’ve worked on delivering innovative solutions in GIS, remote sensing, and environmental analysis, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to drive successful outcomes and support complex projects.I hold a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences, and I am certified in Project Management (PMP) and ITIL4 CDS, which help me to efficiently manage complex projects and collaborate with stakeholders, including the European Commission and international organizations. My active involvement in research projects, also including research for the Italian Space Agency (ASI – CLAM-PHYM), equipped me with skills in integrating multisource data for Earth Observation to monitor environmental and cultural heritage challenges.I’ve contributed to 19 peer-reviewed publications, speaking at international conferences, and serving as a reviewer for various journals. I was also a board member of the Young Earth Scientists Network (20••••16), collaborating with the global geoscientist community to foster innovation and knowledge-sharing.Feel free to connect if you’re interested in Earth Observation, environmental technology, or geology.InterestsProject ManagementCopernicus ProgrammeRemote Sensing, Geo-InformaticsGIS, Field SpectroscopyEnvironmental Monitoring & Management (Geothermal, Landfill, Inland and Coastal water area)Time series
