During my IPPE rotations between August to October, I was assigned to Elliot\'s pharmacy at Rivers Edge (community pharmacy) and Elliot\'s Hospital (institutional pharmacy). Both rotations helped provide me a balanced understanding of different professions within pharmacy,Responsibilities of Elliot\'s Pharmacy @ River\'s Edge included- Assisting in the preparation and dispensing of prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist- Reviewing patient information and updating medication profiles in the pharmacy database- Observing the processing of insurance claims and prior authorization requests- Supporting the pharmacy team in maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant work environment- Assisted with medication order verification and delivery of prescriptions to patients- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment to uphold safety and quality standards- Gaining exposure to state and federal pharmacy regulations and standards of practice- Building an understanding of how state and federal pharmacy regulations guide daily operationsResponsibilities of Elliot\'s Hospital included-Prepared and labeled oral syringes for patients- Restocking of iv mixtures, fluids, and medications inside automated dispensing cabinets- Reviewing inpatient medication profiles for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential drug interactions- Participation in clinical rounds and contributed to patient-centered medication therapy discussions- Assisted with medication reconciliation, discharge counseling, and transitions of care activities- Engaged in case discussions, clinical topic presentations, and quality improvement initiatives under pharmacist supervision- Completed additional projects and tasks assigned to me by several pharmacist
