Chuck Kozlik, CPA, CGFM, CFE is the partner in charge of the government audit practice of McConnell Jones, the largest, African-American-owned and controlled accounting firm in the country. The firm is headquartered in Houston, TX; with additional offices in Dallas and Austin, TX; Columbus and Atlanta, GA; Durham, NC; and Washington, DC.Beginning his career in Chicago with KPMG LLP in 2002, Chuck would then transfer to Washington, DC and serve in KPMG’s Federal Practice for 10 years leading audits of state & local government entities as well as Federal agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security and the Treasury. In 2013, Chuck moved back to Illinois and re-joined the Chicago office of KPMG where he continued to work on state & local government and higher education clients. In January 2017, Chuck joined CliftonLarsonAllen LLP and became CLA’s principal in charge of government and higher education for Northern Illinois. Then, in April 2023, Chuck Kozlik joined McConnell Jones as partner in charge of the government audit practice where he led the audits of numerous state and local governments including the District of Columbia government and the City of Houston, Texas.Chuck has devoted more than 23 years of his career to providing audit, accounting, and consulting services to state and local governments as well as institutions of higher education. Chuck possesses advanced skills in governmental accounting and auditing, single audits in accordance with the Uniform Guidance, and compliance audits for for-profit entities receiving federal funds.Chuck is a licensed CPA in the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the States of Illinois, Maryland, and Texas; and has earned his Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credentials. He is also an active member in the AICPA, the Illinois CPA Society, the Association of Governmental Accountants (AGA), and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).Chuck obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy with a double-major in Political Science from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where during his senior year he served as president of the Psi chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, an international honor society for accounting, finance and information systems students.Chuck has served on and assisted numerous non-profit boards, including the DC Youth Orchestra Program (DCYOP) and the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras (CYSO). He is also active on the governing boards of his homeowners’ association and church.
