About Chuck Wilson

Serving as the executive director of Agency for Instructional Technology (AIT) has been one of the highlights and most memorable times of my life. AIT is a not for profit organization created in 1962 that develops and distributes educational products to primarily the K-12 market. July of this year marked my 20th year with the organization. As a leader, I have tried to follow the wise words of John Paul Jones. Though these words were spoken in the latter half of 1700, they are still quite relevant today;\".A \"leader\" should be as well a gentleman of liberal education, refined manners, punctilious courtesy, and the nicest sense of personal honor. He should be the soul of tact, patience, justice, firmness, and charity. No meritorious act of a subordinate should escape his attention or be left to pass without its reward, even if the reward is only a word of approval. Conversely, he should not be blind to a single fault in any subordinate, though at the same time, he should be quick and unfailing to distinguish error from malice, thoughtlessness from in competency, and well meant shortcoming from heedless or stupid blunder. In one word, every \"leader\" should keep constantly before him the great truth, that to be well obeyed, he must be perfectly esteemed.\" Over the years, these words have served me well.As many not for profits, we find ourselves struggling, however, will continue to seek opportunities to continue to serve.Balance has not always been a priority in my life, however, after several recent occurrences, I have come to realize the importance balance has on ones mental, spiritual, and physical well being. As a certified advanced professional racquetball instructor (this is my fun job!) I play and teach whenever possible. It is a joy and pleasure giving back to the sport that has given me so much over the years.Dependable, trustworthy, loyal, hardworking, and dedicated are all terms that can be used to describe me and my commitment to serve.
