Chuck Donnelly

CEO and Co-founder @Rockstep Solutions

As CEO-cofounder of RockStep Solutions, Chuck is advancing life sciences research by innovating with emergent information technologies. Prior to RockStep, Chuck was the Director of Computational Sciences at the Jackson Laboratory (JAX), a genetics research institute focused on the study of the biology and genetics of human diseases. For the past 25 years, Chuck has led innovative technology development teams at JAX and UC Berkeley (UCB) with funding from NIH (NIGMS & NCI), HHMI, JAX and NASA. At UCB, Chuck developed novel signal detection algorithms and real-time software for radio astronomy and astrophysics flight systems for telescopes operating in space. Chuck\'s work with NASA also included team leadership on a Space Shuttle payload ground control team for the ATLAS I mission. Chuck is currently the CEO of RockStep Solutions and the principal investigator of an innovation award from the NIH to develop a next generation information system for animal model research. Chuck has lectured around the world and published articles on algorithms and research information systems. RockStep Solutions recently released a SaaS solution for research laboratories called Climb™. Climb is both an endpoint informatics tool and a platform for the future-laboratory. RockStep is innovating new functionality for Climb and building IoT tools aimed at transforming research laboratory workflows. Chuck has retired from his position as the founding director (20••••17) of the Acadia School of Traditional Music & Arts (a.k.a. Acadia Trad School). Acadia Trad School hosts a music scholastic program, year round performances with workshops, and an internationally acclaimed week-long music festival in Bar Harbor Maine. Chuck is also a journeyman Iron Worker, has owned and managed a restaurant and music club, and as a musician, has recorded several records and toured semi professionally performing at venues on both US coasts.
