Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state statutes and regulations governing the use of the $5.4 billion CDBG funds provided to Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina, including reviewing Action Plans; serving as a point of contact with regulators from HUD, OIG and other government entities; drafting legal documents and policies; responding to audits and monitoring reports; reviewing contracts; participating in negotiations with contractors, sub-recipients, attorneys, government regulators, and others; preparing for and attending Legislative committee meetings; overseeing the division’s legal team (including our outside legal counsel); settling regulatory and legal disputes and litigation matters
