Christy Ward is an executive fundraising leader with more than 25 years of experience in both healthcare and higher education, dedicated to driving forward the mission of non-profit organizations by building powerful and sustainable philanthropic partnerships.Prior to her current role, Christy elevated the impact of major, principal and planned gifts at Hoag Hospital Foundation by strategically engaging visionary philanthropists with clinical leaders during the successful $760 million Hoag Promise campaign. Christy held several key fundraising positions at Hoag beginning in 2012, leading development for the Pickup Family Neurosciences Institute and launching the Hoag Innovators, a unique philanthropic platform to catalyze healthcare innovation.With 14 years of experience in higher education, Christy served as associate vice chancellor for University Advancement at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, overseeing major and planned giving and providing strategic direction for the division. At the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she led fundraising across the 17 western states during the $2.38 billion Carolina First campaign. At Chapman University she led the development and alumni relations team in the Argyros School of Business & Economics and worked with the chancellor and Nobel laureate faculty on strategic philanthropic initiatives related to the Economic Sciences Institute. Outside of higher education, Christy has directed fundraising campaigns and public relations efforts for health, human services and arts non-profits.As a community volunteer, Christy serves on the Corona del Mar High School Foundation Board of Directors, has served as a panelist for Girls Inc, and has volunteered for decades in youth sports. She has consulted for banks and private wealth advisors seeking insight for philanthropic plans of their clients.
