ABOUT CHRISTINA SELVIG

I am a mental health therapist and doctoral student in Counselor Education and Supervision with a focused commitment to trauma-informed clinical practice, counselor leadership, and scholarly contribution to the field. My work focuses on research, training, and specialized trauma care. Clinically, I specialize in complex trauma, PTSD, attachment injuries, and dissociative presentations. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and my work is informed by attachment theory, Adaptive Information Processing (AIP), and parts-informed frameworks. I approach dissociation not as a pathology to eliminate, but as an adaptive survival organization that deserves careful, non-shaming, and structured treatment. My clinical focus involves helping individuals and couples move toward greater integration, emotional regulation, and relational security. Academically, my doctoral training emphasizes the preparation of trauma-responsive counselors and the ethical integration of evidence-based modalities within spiritually responsive and developmentally informed frameworks. My research interests include trauma processing, dissociation, attachment-based interventions, and advanced supervision models for complex clinical presentations. In leadership roles, I seek to cultivate professional identity development, advocacy competence, and scholarly engagement among counselors in training. I am committed to fostering environments that promote reflective practice, ethical responsibility, and sustained clinical excellence. Whether in the therapy room, the classroom, or professional leadership spaces, my aim is consistent: to advance trauma-informed care that is research-grounded, relationally attuned, and developmentally sensitive.
