A boutique accounting firm based in Ottawa and Kanata that provides financial, tax and accounting services to a variety of clients.• Provided executive leadership in all areas of finance, accounting, financial reporting, tax, budget, credit, treasury, financial planning & analysis, investor relations, and information technology functions to a wide variety of clients’ businesses in various industries.• Together with Chief Executive Officers and other executives, participated in developing short- and long- term corporate and operations strategies for client companies to achieve their sales, profit and customer service objectives.• Led the development and preparation of strategic and operating business plans and budgets. Measured the performance of businesses and projects against plans and made recommendations with regard to variances.• Attended Audit Committee and Board of Director meetings.• Provided start-up and turnaround advice and direction for growth-focused firms, with emphasis on mitigating the various companies’ specific risk factors.• Completed corporate re-organizations for privately owned businesses.• Provided strategic planning and leadership for two of Canada’s largest government departments (Canada Border Security Agency & Correctional Service of Canada) to respond to their Audit Readiness Reports.• Designed and implemented a “holistic” controls methodology based on SOX guidance and the COSO control framework. This methodology assisted Canadian federal government departments in preparing for and sustaining an efficient and effective financial statement audit. This cutting-edge methodology has now become standard practice in the Canadian government.• Hired, trained and managed external auditing and advisory consultants (from two of the big four accounting firms) in Audit Readiness response methodology and “holistic” controls frameworks.• Currently, responsible for Stasuik & Associates’ operations and strategic partnerships.
