About Chris Martin
Updated July 2025 -Hi, thank you for visiting as I approach my nine year anniversary at RBC in November! I fuse my Big Four client consulting experience and hands-on database engineering roots to tailor artificial intelligence (AI) solutions in today’s fast-paced Wall Street regulatory landscape. My leadership philosophy emphasizes firsthand knowledge sharing mentorship across teams for their specific needs. In 2016, I was approached by a former manager to join RBC’s Risk IT team, driving Hadoop data lake sourcing on US and Canadian regulatory programs. As my role evolved, I began overseeing two business analysis teams in Toronto to enhance IFRS9 data quality and reconciliation. The US CFO Group sought international systems experience to assist with the US CCAR program’s multi-year roadmap creation. I stepped in on complex systems data gap analysis and execution to meet Federal Reserve requirements. In 2023, my RBC mentor invited me to join Enterprise Information Management Risk, a new regulatory Second Line of Defense (2LOD) team to solidify controls and reporting governance. My focus was surgical transaction analysis, scalable automation, and 1LOD review & challenge. Fast-forward to 2025, our team is leading RBC’s AI Governance Working Group and Risk Council to evaluate emerging applications. I research new technologies including Hugging Face SmolAgents framework to boost team productivity and innovate the automation of repeatable business processes with Agents and Python.Chris
Experience
Full-time U s CFO Group Change & Execution Senior Pm Ba Federal Reserve Roadmap 2020 - 2023
Jul 2019 — Present · New York, NY, US
Requirements Delivery - Core member responding to a Matter Requiring Attention (MRA) from the Federal Reserve Board (FRB). Led daily calls to support the US Data Strategy team’s workshop requirements sessions with regulatory report owners and the US Data Office. Aggressively coordinated meetings with City National (CNB) and RBC Bank while building relationships to facilitate agendas and analysis materials as inputs to the on-time December 2020 FRB response. Data Lake Gap Analysis - Developed a repeatable Python and HIVE script to extract strategic FR Y-14Q H1 and H2 schedule data including facility, loan, securities, client, and reference data tables from the enterprise data lake for CNB and RBC Bank. Shared data within MS Access and Excel to align columns for granular records to compare lineage and transform values against FRB exposure report aggregations. The transparent output resulted in expedited analysis across teams to identify strategic attributes as replacements for tactical manual flows. Attribute gaps were identified for a remediation plan by CNB and RBC Bank. PM - Created an integrated multi-year project plan with stakeholder input to outline RBC’s US plan to analyze, remediate, and automate reports with controls strategically from a common consumption layer for CNB and RBC Bank, while decommissioning legacy manual processes following parallel runs. Established a RACI matrix, SharePoint RAID log, and hybrid waterfall agile view for specific teams. Established the onboarding of the team’s Big Four partner as an ambassador to ensure their individual success.
