About Christopher Marks
I am a Mechanical Engineer in Burns & McDonnell\'s Energy Practice in Chicago. Typically, I take on the role of Engineering Manager for EPC and EPCM reciprocating engine power plant projects, leading system design and managing multi-million dollar engineering projects from estimate and award through commercial operation. As such, I have gained extensive experience in coordinating interdisciplinary engineering team members from different geographic locations. I have led the engineering design team for multiple power plant projects, installing a total of 600 MW of electrical generation for various clients. I have also been involved in the mechanical design of various other reciprocating engine power plants with a combined installed capacity of 289 MW.In addition to full plant installation projects, I have also managed and participated in numerous studies, estimates, and proposals within the power generation sector. I am always looking to find better solutions to problems and challenge design inertia.I believe that it is critical for engineering and construction teams to work together on a project. Without a clear and thorough design, construction cannot be performed efficiently. However, without an understanding of the construction process, designs cannot be effectively implemented. It is important that the team grows and learns from past projects. I am a goal-focused individual who always strives to view every situation from others\' point of view. I realize that perception is critical to being an effective leader and communicator. I focus on making sure that everyone has an opportunity to contribute to the team and decision making and work to find the best path forward.
