About Christopher Guess

I am a computer scientist, journalist and public policy consultant currently focused on misinformation, disinformation and wider anti-corruption reporting and technologies. I have lived in five countries, and worked in over thirty on topics such as anti-money laundering investigative reporting in the former soviet states, liquidity modeling of low-income pharmacies in sub-Saharan Africa, handling and management of confidential governmental data leaks, emergency response and health care advertising app development, the founding of a transportation ticketing start up, and policy discussion at the highest levels of governments in North American, Europe and Asia. While my experience is broad it is also deep, with a focus on truly comprehending a situation, the people involved, analysis of intended and unintended potential knock-on effects, and choosing the correct tool for each individual problem. That tool may be artificial intelligence and machine learning software to quickly and efficiently identify potential fraudulent transactions from a leaked database of millions of bank records. The proper method to approach an issue may be cross-border policy discussion with governments and NGO partners to secure financing for a development project, or it could be writing an app to more succinctly distribute educational material and opportunities to low-income individuals within New York City.
