Forensic Pathology Coordinator (FPC).Under the direction of the Deputy Chief Medical Examiner, receives training and performs professional forensic science work to support the operations of the Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) Forensic Pathology & Family Service Center.FPCs handle a wide array of roles and responsibilities, primarily being the ME pathology liaison for families and external agencies including DA Offices, ACS, The Eye Bank, PHL, and LONY. The FPCs are also responsible for coordinating medical residents and students’ rotations, assisting MEs and the MLI unit with medical records requests, conducting monthly mortuary inspections, coordinating NYU faculty appointments and activities for OCME employees, assisting with ME schedules, coordinating activities for neuropathology and cardiopathology examinations, and handling activities related to exam reports requested through PHL. In addition, FPCs are responsible for handling data related to drug overdose deaths by means of producing daily SPOT reports, mapping, and reporting essential drug overdose death information to HIDTA as well as facilitating research activities for MEs including gathering monthly data reports.
