ABOUT CHRISTOPHER CAMPLIN
I’m a Senior Frontend / Full-Stack Engineer and Creative Technologist at The Economist Group, working across both product development and interactive storytelling.Around half of my time is focused on core product and platform engineering: designing, building, and maintaining editorial tooling and internal systems, including custom CMS features, GraphQL APIs, content pipelines, and shared component libraries. I work end-to-end across React, TypeScript, Node, GraphQL, and cloud-based infrastructure to ship maintainable, scalable features used daily across the organisation. The other half of my work is dedicated to high-impact visual experiences for clients and editorial teams, specialising in 3D web technology, data visualisation, and creative interfaces. I use Three.js, React Three Fiber, WebGL, GLSL, and D3 to craft immersive, performant scrollytelling experiences that make complex information meaningful and engaging.Across my career, I’ve led or contributed to projects for Blancpain, Cisco, Lloyd’s Register, and The Economist, collaborating closely with designers, data teams, editors, and 3D artists.Outside of work, I experiment with shader art, geometric animations, Processing, and AI-assisted visual workflows — exploring how real-time graphics can communicate emotion, structure, and movement.Core Skills & Interests:React, Next.js, Node.js, GraphQL, TypeScript, Three.js / R3F, GLSL, WebGL, D3.js, Scrollytelling, Design Systems, Internal Tools, Product EngineeringCurrently exploring:WebGPU, generative motion systems, GPU instancing patterns, and creative coding for data-driven storytelling.
