About Christopher Reid
ESFJ. Writer. Educator. Coach. Data nerd. UGA alum. Texan at heart.Working in education since 2009, Chris currently serves as Director of the Center for Transforming Alternative Preparation Pathways (CTAPP) at Dallas College. He leads CTAPP’s efforts related to teacher preparation, partnering with alternative certification programs to improve programming, to support novice teacher candidates in the field, and to impact novice teacher effectiveness.A graduate of the University of Georgia (B.A. English, Italian ’09), Chris entered the education field as a middle school teacher in Houston ISD. In 2013, he joined an alternative certification program, Teaching Excellence, to broaden his impact on novice teachers across Houston.Chris held positions as an ACP field supervisor, course instructor, and data analyst for novice teacher candidates. He served as manager of professional learning and oversaw training, development, and evaluation for more than 300 novice teachers annually. Throughout his time working at an ACP, Chris helped reimagine the processes for measuring novice teacher and teacher educator effectiveness.Chris co-founded CTAPP in 2019 to assist ACPs with improving novice teacher programming and support. He firmly believes in the art of practice and linking teacher pedagogy with application-based implementation. He has a passion for data-driven decision making that aims to improve outcomes for all PK-12 students across Texas.In his spare time, Chris enjoys playing tennis as often as possible, cooking new recipes, and playing with his border collie, Lilly. An avid sports fan, he has a love-hate relationship with all Atlanta and UGA sports teams. He studied abroad in Italy during college, and the Duomo in Siena (pictured above) is his favorite place in the world.
