ABOUT CHRISTOPHER RICHTER

Christopher Richter is an accomplished trial and appellate lawyer, and a partner at Torys\' Montreal office. He has practiced in the area of civil, corporate and commercial litigation since 1996, including securities litigation, product liability and professional liability. As a member of the Bars of Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia, he has pleaded before the trial and appeal courts of Quebec and the superior courts of several other provinces, the Federal Court and Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as various administrative and arbitral tribunals. His practice includes class action litigation, and he has a special interest and experience in private international law issues. Frequent appearances before the Quebec securities commission, and before the Quebec energy board in regulatory matters relating to pricing. He taught civil procedure at McGill from 2002 to 2004 and at the University of Montreal from 2004 to 2008. Mtre. Richter is a native of Vancouver, B.C. and a graduate of the University of Toronto (B.A, 1990) and McGill University (LL.B. and B.C.L, 1995). He is married to Cara Cameron, also a litigation attorney. Mtre. Richter was secretary of the Consumer Litigation Committee of the International Bar Association. He is former Quebec branch chair of the International Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association and a past chair of the Business Dispute Resolution Committee of the National ILS.
