About Christopher Newton-Cheh
I am a practicing heart failure/transplant cardiologist and cardiovascular geneticist at Massachusetts General Hospital. My laboratory in the Cardiovascular Research Center and the Center for Genomic Medicine conducts large-scale population-based studies to identify genetic causes of heart failure, hypertension and arrhythmias. I am carrying out human trials to determine the physiologic actions of the genetic variants we identify. Through these translational studies, I hope to improve human health by identifying novel drug targets and causes of drug toxicity. In addition, we are using cellular and animal models to elucidate fundamental mechanisms underlying cardiovascular disease.
