About Christopher Newth

Chris Newth is responsible for the strategic oversight and implementation of the Museum’s curatorial, collections, and exhibition activities, including exhibition planning and execution, art conservation, collections management, research, and budget planning. Chris joined Princeton in 2020 after working for seventeen years at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where he began in the European decorative arts and sculpture department and eventually was named the interim chair of Asia, Oceania, and Africa department, interim chair of Asia, Oceania, and Africa department, and chief of curatorial administration. The Princeton University Art Museum is the second building project Chris has worked on, having worked on the MFA’s 2010 American wing project. He received his BA in medieval studies and classical archaeology from the University of Michigan and his MA in medieval art from Boston University.
