About Christopher Nesbit
Current job responsibilities include facility strategic planning for the largest laboratory research constituency (approximately 20% occupied space), which encompasses the fundamental research and development aspects at Sandia National Laboratories. Facility capabilities for which I am responsible for providing strategic planning include microfab production facilities, nanotechnology research and production, chem-bio-nano laboratory facilities, large scale environmental test (sled tracks, drop towers, wind tunnels, fire simulation, environmental chambers, radiography, vibration test facilities, etc.), research reactor facilities, high-energy density accelerators, high-yield fusion research, high performance computing, material research facilities, and other engineering based research and development facilities. Sandia National Laboratories encompasses four primary campuses in Albuquerque, NM; Livermore, CA; Tonopah, NV; and Kauai, HI; with a primary mission as a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) for the Department of Energy. In total, SNL is comprised of over 7.2 million square feet of facilities on over 300 square miles acres) of DOE owned and permitted land. As a practicing architect, I have broad project-type experience including Science & Technology, Healthcare, Museum/Entertainment, Corporate Commercial, K-12, Higher Education facilities, and Government/Municipal facilities. My past roles have focused on Project Management and Project Architect roles (pre-design thru post-construction). I have been actively engaged in project and firm-wide project delivery standards development and education. I am a licensed architect in NM and NC, and previously in FL. I have concentrated on programming, design, and construction of research facilities for more than 20 years.
