About Christopher Neely

As a writer, I am a communicator. But as Roger Angell would say, we are all communicators, with the need at times to satisfy ourselves with the clear and almost perfect thought. So really, being a writer doesn\'t take any sort of special gift. But writing, in itself, is special, gift-wrapped with a bow for the oftentimes anonymous reader.Whenever you read something, whether it be a book, an article, or the back of the cereal box, you are reading the direct thoughts of someone else. How amazing! Stevie King said writing is telepathy, and I think it foolish to disagree. And you know, to write is a grueling task. It\'s humbling and liberating, but it\'s grueling. It can be discouraging for anyone to attempt to not only face, but overcome, all of the static our minds create each day (you know, the stuff that makes us at once human and feel alienated) and put a clear thought down in a communicable way for another person to read. How vulnerable it can make us sometimes feel. So when you read something, cherish the intimate moment you are sharing with the writer. It took will and courage for the writer to open up their mind for you, so it\'s only right to pay respect with an open mind of your own. It\'s one thing to read, it\'s another to understand.
