Keen eyes + receptive ears + empathy + understanding + modesty = my formula for good people management and humble Governors Island/Collective Retreats: Managed the safe and efficient evacuations of retreat guests from the island to mainland Manhattan during hurricanes. Logistics included, but not limited to, securing retreat property to minimize damage; transporting guests to a safe meeting location; account for guests; communicate with the Coast Guard to determine weather conditions and departure; transport guests to the ferry; relocate guests in other lodging; etc. These instances required the application of my emotional intelligence as I balanced the safety and physiological needs of guests and team members in a precarious, fast-paced situation.DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Metropolitan/Highgate Hotels: Oversaw the refurbishment of approximately 20 guest rooms that were in disrepair. This resulted in an increase in overall guest scores with an emphasis on hotel-room appearance by 40%, enhanced the guest experience aesthetically, and decreased monetary service recoveries by 50%. This project involved methodical planning and the collaboration of the engineering, housekeeping, and front office teams to ensure expedited restorations and preserving the financial integrity of the hotel. Managed the COVID-19 operation of the hotel from inception until closing in April 2020 through enforcing health-safety guidelines and counseling for my team members and guests as we all navigated the precarious introductory of the pandemic. My emotional intelligence was applied and tested in people management during this troubling period.
