ABOUT CHRISTOPHER J. PETRONE

I am the Manager of Planning, Design & Construction (PDC) at Akron Children’s, where I provide leadership, oversight, and technical guidance for the delivery of healthcare design and construction projects across the organization’s facilities. In this role, I lead and mentor project management staff, promote consistent project management standards, and ensure the successful delivery of capital and renovation projects from concept through closeout. My focus is on financial stewardship, safety, quality, and operational excellence, while fostering strong collaboration among hospital leadership, user groups, design teams, contractors, and key stakeholders. With my progressive experience in healthcare construction, I bring a deep understanding of hospital infrastructure, regulatory requirements, infection control, and clinical environments. I have supported projects delivered through a variety of methods, including Design-Bid-Build, CM at Risk, and Integrated Lean Project Delivery, and I value early coordination, thoughtful planning, and clear communication to drive successful outcomes.I am passionate about developing people and building high-performing teams. I believe strong project outcomes are achieved through trust, accountability, and continuous improvement, and I strive to challenge the status quo while applying lessons learned to strengthen future projects and processes.Above all, my goal is to help ensure that the facilities we plan, design, and build support the mission of Akron Children’s and the patients, families, and caregivers we serve every day.
