ABOUT CHRIS GOODMAN
I have over 25 years of experience as an Environmental Specialist helping operational facilities and engineering developments understand their environmental risks and reduce their impact. This includes a decade supporting operational oil and gas facilities in all aspects of environmental management and compliance, and fifteen years working with engineering & environmental consultancies on global energy and infrastructure projects.As an Environmental Advisor for Shell and BP, I supported oil and gas facilities in the UK and Europe, in:• Assuring all aspects of environmental compliance, and liaising with regulatory authorities• Coordinating delivery of permits and implementation of processes & training to ensure compliance• Developing and maintaining an EMS, conducting internal audits• Compiling, assuring, analysing and reporting environmental data; driving improved data forecasting and management processes• Facilitating external ISO14001 certification and EUETS verification audits• Managing contractors in delivery of studies and submissions including permit applications and EIAs• Providing support as Duty Pollution Officer on an Emergency Response Team, and facilitating incident investigation and reportingThrough my own company, Certus, I have provided a range of environmental engineering and consultancy services, including:• Identifying and minimising environmental risks throughout the full engineering design process using tools such as ENVID, Environmental Aspects & Impacts and Environmental Critical Equipment identification• Informing project design development and decision making through the provision of specific deliverables including design philosophies, waste, emissions and discharge forecasts, monitoring plans, and assessments of compliance with legal requirements and lender requirements• Supporting permitting requirements through development of Best Available Technique (BAT) Assessments, permit variation documents, ESIA scoping reports and Environmental Statements• Monitoring and auditing to set standards, including IFC Performance Standards• Supporting and improving sustainability strategy and EMS implementationMuch of this work has involved close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, regulators, and contractors. I have experience within the UK, Europe, Central Asia, Africa and the Middle East, and of working to local regulatory requirements in these regions as well as international standards (IFC / World Bank / Equator Principles).
