Sapphire are leading balcony specialists in the construction industry. My buyer role includes- Placing orders, as and when requisitions are issued onto the SmartSheet system, whether from contract managers, R&D, sales, marketing etc- Liaising with site staff and contract managers, when resolving issues such as delayed deliveries, damaged or incorrect orders- Coordinating with project managers and site teams to align procurement and product deliveries in accordance with construction site pour dates- Evaluating and selecting new suppliers, carrying out rigorous checks to ensure they are suitable for requirements- Coordinating with suppliers to progress outstanding quotations and shortfall of material deliveries, as well as improving supplier relations- Monitoring balcony steelwork production, including holding regular Teams calls and face-to-face meetings, so as to ensure timely completion of orders to hit required vesting application dates for customers- Assessing capacity of factories and forecasting production accordingly, to maximise efficiency- Negotiating high-value contracts and long-term agreements with steelwork suppliers- Analysing procurement data and supplier KPI’s to drive supply chain team efficiency and implement cost-saving measures- Engaging and managing key suppliers, including carrying out regular visits, both in UK and overseas, as and when required- Conducting spend analysis and requesting copies of supplier accounts- Reviewing and resolving invoice queries, liaising with the accounts team as appropriate to ensure timely payment is able to be carried out- Monitoring stock levels being held by third party suppliers, and agreeing automatic reorder levels, based on product usage- Tracking overseas shipments- Working closely with the logistics team, ensuring transport requests are issued in a timely manner, both for goods delivered nationally and overseas- Training new buyers.
