About Christopher E. Holt

Experienced in providing skilled intervention services to adults in the short- and long-term post-acute rehabilitation environments. I specialize in dysphagia and swallowing dysfunction management, cognition and neurodegenerative disorders, establishing (non)verbal communication strategies, language therapy, and providing patient-centered care to multicultural populations across the Central Arizona valley.I am a recent graduate of The Ohio State University with the Master of Arts (M.A.) in Speech-Language Pathology and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Speech and Hearing Science - Concentration: Speech Science. My research focuses on understanding regional and social speech production differences in typically developing children. I study how to support speech-language pathologists, educators, language interpreters, medical professionals, and assessment developers improve assessment procedures in the study of communication disorders using quantitative acoustic analysis.

   I provide supervised and independent therapy for clients who are 18 years or older, including providing cognitive screenings, some evaluations, and therapy for attention, memory, and problem solving in the skilled nursing facility (SNF) environment. I also provide evaluations and therapy for clients who have been diagnosed with dysphagia and assess diet modifications and swallow muscle strengthening strategies. Expanding my clinical practice, I work with clients to expand their communication skills with language building and cognition tools to effectively communicate with family, rehabilitation, and medical staff.I refer clients for outside evaluations, including for Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies, Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), and other skilled services patients may require.
