I earned my doctorate of medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed residency in internal medicine at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I practiced as a hospitalist starting in 2011 and have been a physician advisor since 2016. I led the initial planning and development of the Observation Unit at UNC Hospitals in 2017 where I was medical director for 4 years. I was Medical Director of Care Management at UNC Hospitals from 2020 to 2025, leading a team of 18 physician advisors across three hospitals responsible for utilization review, denials management, and addressing discharge barriers. My areas of professional interest include appropriate utilization of health care resources, regulatory compliance, revenue protection, hospital clinical operations, and building passionate teams.
