ABOUT CHRISTOPHER IVAN BUDIWARDHANA
From asking how fast electricity travels in kindergarten to researching grid-aware control for hybrid transformers in Oxford, my journey has always been driven by a deep curiosity about how energy systems work — and how we can make them better. I’m currently reading Engineering Science at the University of Oxford (MEng), ranking in the top 2% of my cohort. My focus is on electrical and energy systems, particularly the role of power electronics and grid infrastructure in enabling a reliable, decarbonized future. I’ve applied this through research in both the UK and China, internships across the solar, grid, and traditional energy sectors in Indonesia, and as President of the Oxford Energy Society. I believe the defining challenges of the energy transition are no longer just technical — they are systemic. Engineering, financing, policy, and people must align to make net zero viable at scale. My long-term goal is to contribute to that alignment: beginning from technical depth and evolving toward strategic leadership in the energy sector. I’m always open to meaningful conversations and collaborations with those advancing the future of energy across systems, sectors, and borders.
